On Friday, April 12, the Department of International Relations and European Integration, affiliated with the National University of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), invites you to the debate entitled “The Dangers of a Single Story on Europe – Youth Perspectives”.

The debate will take place at the House of European History (Brussels, Belgium) starting at 17.00 (18.00, Romania time), representing the key event of a week of training offered as reward for the winners of the online debate on European issues held in February-April 2019 in Romania and Greece.

This event aims to bring to the attention of the public the different versions of Europe and the implications of promoting a single version of Europe in the context of the debates on the future of Europe. Thus, during the talks, participants will be invited to answer the following questions: ow many histories does Europe have? How do these histories we tell ourselves shape the future of Europe? What happens when these multiple stories are reduced to one single story? How are these stories relevant for contemporary youth? How is the lack of interest in history being used by populist, divisive movements by promoting their single & divisive story?

The Brussels debate takes place in the framework of the project “A New Narrative for EU Elections and Beyond: How to Engage Youth”, implemented by the Romanian Center for European Policies – CRPE (Romania), in partnership with the National University of Political and Administrative Studies through the Center for European Studies) and the Inter Alia civic platform (Greece) and is funded by the European Commission through the ERASMUS+ Programme: Key Action 2: “Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices”.

The discussion will be moderated by Lect. Univ. Dr. Miruna Butnaru-Troncotă (SNSPA) and Dr. Simina Bădică (House of European History) and will also include interventions from the public and representatives of the partner institutions.

The entrance to the event is free, but for organizational reasons, please register by Thursday, April 11 at the following e-mail address: The debate will be held in the study room on the first floor (next to “Fables Room”) in the main building of House Of European History (Rue Belliard / Belliardstraat 135, 1000 Brussels, Belgium).
